Competition Format

Open Division (Juniors, Adult Men, Adult Women)

Each division will be divided into 6-person classes. Athletes will be placed in the classes according to their ability (ringer percentage). Within each class, competition will consist of round robin single matches. Games will be 40-point cancellation or 40- or 50-shoe games. "Count all" may be used in some classes. 

NOTE: All athletes should check-in at the horseshoe courts at the Community Building by 9:00 AM the day of competition, unless otherwise notified. Competition may begin at that time. Pitchers are responsible for bringing their own horseshoes. 

Qualifying Requirements

Those pitchers who belong to the Iowa Hawkeye Horseshoe Pitchers Association (I.H.H.P.A.) will use their ringer percentage. Others must qualify by throwing 50 shoes to determine their percentage. Please call Jan Warwick at 515-292-7343 or 515-290-6281 if you need to qualify prior to playing in the tournament.

These will be distributed at the Community Building the day of competition. NOTE: Athletes will receive a copy of the tournament schedule prior to the competition.
