Kick off the Iowa Games by being an honorary torch carrier!
Feel like you're in the Olympics! Take part in the Torch Run at the Iowa Games
Brought to you by: U.S. Bank
In 1987, Iowa became the first state to use the United States Olympic Committee's flame for a statewide torch run. That same flame will be carried by runners from all walks of life for the Summer Iowa Games' annual torch run.
The torch will only be ran in Ames for 2012 for a loop through downtown and the campus of Iowa State University. The journey will culminate with the lighting of the Olympic-style cauldron at outside of Jack Trice Stadium during the Opening Ceremony later that evening.
Torch carriers will run on hard-surface roads in Ames. Applicants will receive details in the mail after returning their application to the Iowa Games office. All runners will receive a commemorative t-shirt. Runners under the age of 12 must be accompanied by an adult.
If you would like to carry the torch in the run, please register online
