Competition Information

This is an OPEN course, meaning racers must share the road with vehicles. Registration will start at 6:30 am. The course will cover approximately 26 miles per lap. Race categories can consist of individual, tandems and relay teams.   This race will use chip timing.

Tandem and relay teams may be 2 male, 2 female or 2 person coed. A team's age will be determined by the average of the 2 riders' ages, and teams will compete within designated age categories in the Road Race.  Each member of the tandem or relay team must complete an entry form and pay the entry fee.

Iowa Senior Games Athletes (age 50 & Over):  The Iowa Games and Iowa Senior Games have partnered to offer athletes age 50 & Over in the 1 Lap a unique opportunity.  For an additional $10 (optional during online registration) you may also register as an Iowa Senior Games Cycling Road Race athlete.  The extra entry fee will include a Senior Iowa Games T-shirt, Senior Games medal (age divisions every 5 years) as well as an opportunity to qualify for the 2013 National Senior Games in Cleveland, Ohio.  If you already paid an entry fee to compete in another sport at the Senior Iowa Games contact Senior Games Director Steve Lynn (lynns@wdmcs.org) to add the Cycling Road Race to your list of sports. 

Rules

The Iowa Games cycling events are not sanctioned by USA Cycling; however, the rules of the USA Cycling governing bodies (USCF and NORBA) will generally apply. See www.USACycling.org for detailed rules.

For an additional fee of $5 per event ($10 for both) athletes can compete in the mountain biking and/or time trial. This offer is only good through the final registration deadline.  An athlete can not add this to his/her entry the day of the event.  After the final registration deadline the on-site entry fee for each sport will be charged.
