      <title>Iowa Games Announces 2012 National Anthem Contest Winner</title>

      <description>&lt;p style="margin-bottom: 0.0001pt; line-height: normal;"&gt;The Iowa Games powered by the Iowa Food &amp; Family Project announces the second annual National Anthem contest winner.  The contest provided an opportunity for Iowans to showcase their talents for the chance to sing the National Anthem at the Summer Iowa Games Athlete Jamboree and Opening Ceremony, Friday, July 13 in Ames.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p style="margin-bottom: 0.0001pt; line-height: normal;"&gt; &lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p style="margin-bottom: 0.0001pt; line-height: normal;"&gt;This year’s winner is the Men’s Quartet from Mount Vernon, Iowa.  The group is comprised of Micah Russell, Brandon Douglas, Seamus Taylor and Zak Moran.  This year’s voting was based on the number of Facebook ‘Likes’ and survey votes.  The top five results consisted of Men’s Quartet with 1,860, Allison Te Slaa (1,717), Jacob Mason (1,262), Kate Pomerenke (499) and Rochelle Clark (133).&lt;/p&gt;</description>

&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong style="font-weight: bold;"&gt;AMES, IA&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;strong&gt; – &lt;/strong&gt;The Winter Iowa Games powered by the Iowa Food &amp; Family Project concluded this past weekend with women’s 6 on 6 basketball. The Iowa Games officially announced today that the event broke the all-time participation record with 4,173 participants. This broke the previous record of 4,132 set in 2010.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;The 2012 Winter Iowa Games held competitions for 21 sports spanning over five weekends in January and February.  Being Iowa’s premier winter sports festival, the Iowa Games was held in 11 Iowa communities over the five-week period.&lt;/p&gt;</description>

      <description>The 20th Anniversary Winter Iowa Games powered by the Iowa Food &amp; Family Project will converge in Dubuque Saturday, Jan. 28 and Sunday, Jan. 29. The main weekend Winter Iowa Games will feature 12 sports and 3,000 athletes. Alpine skiing racing, youth basketball, cross country skiing, a fitness walk, youth ice hockey, indoor soccer, martial arts, a 5K road race, snowboarding, table tennis, volleyball and wrestling are all on the schedule of events.</description>

      <description>AMES, Iowa (June 6, 2011) – Iowa Sports Foundation President, Jim Hallihan, announced the recipients of the 2011 Brian Pearson Memorial scholarship. This year’s recipients are Isaac Olson of Urbandale High School and Kaytlin Tippin of Waukee High School. &lt;br style="padding-top: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-bottom: 0px; padding-left: 0px;" /&gt;

Each year the Iowa Sports Foundation chooses two recipients to receive the distinguished Brian Pearson Scholarship, one male and one female. The scholarship, sponsored by the Orr, Kenyon and Skinner families, is to honor former Iowa State University Basketball Player Brian Pearson who died of brain cancer in 1997. &lt;br style="padding-top: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-bottom: 0px; padding-left: 0px;" /&gt;

Olson and Tippin were chosen for their character and ability to demonstrate citizenship, trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring, perseverance, and sportsmanship. Scholarship winners are also students who are accomplished in school, activities and make a positive impact in the community.</description>

&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;AMES, Iowa – &lt;/strong&gt;Deadlines for the Iowa Games powered by the Iowa Food &amp; Family Project youth soccer tournament are quickly approaching.  The tournament is slated for July 15-17 in Ames.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;As one of the original Iowa Games sports in 1987, over 90,000 athletes have participated in the Iowa Games soccer tournament in its 25 year history.  In 2010, the tournament featured over 2,600 athletes on 194 teams.&lt;/p&gt;</description>
