Competition Information

1. Each individual on the team must complete his/her portion of the team entry form and have a parent or guardian sign the waiver.

2. Please indicate both your team name and division on the entry form.

3. Rosters will only be accepted with the minimum number of players (5) listed.

4. Mail the completed entry form, waivers and entry fee, payable to:

5. Team coaches will receive a confirmation letter with tournament information.

6. Tournament rules, schedule and map will be posted online approximately seven (7) days prior to competition.  NO SCHEDULES WILL BE MAILED!

7. No refunds will be issued due to cancellation by weather or team withdrawal after schedules have been completed.

8. Employees of Mary Greeley Medical Center will be on-site to attend to any minor injuries.

9. The number of teams may be adjusted at the discretion of the Iowa Sports Foundation staff.

10. Roster Changes/Additions may be made at no additional charge and must be postmarked by November 11.  Teams that originally register online may make roster changes online until November 18.  Waivers should be received in the office by November 18 or brought to the tournament.

11. Whenever possible at least 3 games will be scheduled for each team.

1. Games will consist of a running clock, except in the last minute of each half.  Clock will not stop in the 2nd half if the point differential is 20 points or more.  Substitutions may be made at any dead ball situation.  Halftime is a maximum of 4 minutes.

  • 3rd Grade two 16 minute halves

    • In keeping with the philosophy of the Iowa Sports Foundation, the the 3rd Grade Division will be played as a jamboree format.  No standings will be kept and every player will receive an Iowa Games medal.

    • In the 3rd Grade Division the free throw line will be shortened to 12 feet.  The top blocks will not be used; only 4 players (2 from each team) will be on the blocks during the free throw.

  • 4th-8th Grade two 18 minute halves

    • Awards will be awarded to each member of the first and second place team in each age/gender division.

2. Teams must provide one game ball and their own practice balls for warm up.  The smaller 28.5 oz (women's ball) will be used for all divisions.

3. Players may appear on only one roster.  Players may be required to present proof of identification (driver's permit/birth certificate & photo) at tournament check-in or upon request of a tournament official.  Any team using an ineligible player will be disqualified for the entire tournament.  No refunds will be issued and any games and/or awards won will be forfeited.

4. Teams are required to wear matching colored shirts with numbers on the back.

5. No Zone defense will be allowed for 3rd - 6th grade divisions.  Full-court press of any kind will not be allowed for 4th - 6th grades, except in the final minute of each half or overtime.  3rd grade division will not be allowed to use a full-court press at any point in the game.  There will be no restrictions on half-court defenses for the 7th and 8th grade division and they may use any type of full-court press until one team is 15 points ahead.

Eligibility

  • Current grade for 2009-2010 school year will be used to determine the grade for participation.

  • Athletes should check with their school's athletic director concerning participation.  Net Fest cannot be held accountable for determining an athlete's eligibility.

If divisions do not fill, teams may be asked to play up a division or to combine divisions.
